Share Photos Privately in Seconds
A step-by-step walkthrough of Obscure's end-to-end sharing workflow — from opening a photo to sharing it with sensitive information removed.
Sharing photos shouldn’t require five minutes of careful editing. With Obscure, you can redact sensitive information and share a clean photo in just a few seconds.
Here’s the complete workflow.
Step 1: Open a Photo
Launch Obscure and select a photo from your library — or share a photo directly to Obscure from any app using the iOS share sheet.
You can also take a new photo right from within the app.
Step 2: Auto-Detect Sensitive Content
Once your photo is loaded, tap the detection buttons to let Obscure’s AI scan for:
- Text — names, addresses, phone numbers, and any other readable text
- Faces — all visible faces in the image
Detected content is highlighted so you can review what was found. You can deselect anything you want to keep visible.
Step 3: Choose Your Redaction Style
Pick how you want to obscure the selected content:
- Blur for a soft, natural look
- Pixellate for an obvious, intentional redaction
- Fill for solid coverage
You can change the style at any time before sharing.
Step 4: Review and Share
Before sharing, take a moment to review:
- Is all sensitive content covered?
- Did the AI miss anything? If so, switch to manual mode and draw over it
- Does the redaction style look right?
When you’re satisfied, tap share and send the redacted photo to any app — Messages, Mail, Slack, social media, or save it back to your library.
Tips for a Faster Workflow
- Use the share sheet — share photos directly to Obscure from Photos, Safari, or any other app for the fastest workflow
- Enable both detectors — run text and face detection together to catch everything in one pass
- Save to library — keep a redacted copy alongside the original for future reference
Always Private
Every step in this workflow happens entirely on your device. Obscure never uploads your photos or detected content to any server. Your originals stay intact, and only the redacted version is shared.
That’s it — four steps, a few seconds, and your photos are ready to share safely.
